Celebrating Europe’s 2025 EPRI Technology Transfer Award Winners

Europe once again demonstrated its leadership in applied energy innovation through the 2025 EPRI Technology Transfer Awards, with seven organisations recognised for applying EPRI research to deliver measurable operational impact.

  • Iberdrola (Spain) was honoured for advancing hydropower performance through the deployment of Ultrasonic Vibration Monitoring Systems, improving anomaly detection and maintenance efficiency.
  • EDF (France) earned recognition for developing a scalable non‑metallic repair method that reduces leak risks and downtime in nuclear spent‑fuel pools, enhancing safety and reliability.
  • Terna (Italy) was awarded for deploying synchrophasor‑based technologies that strengthen real‑time grid visibility and operational decision‑making across Italy’s transmission system.
  • MVM Paks (Hungary) received distinction for implementing efficient long‑term operation processes at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant using EPRI expertise and preventive‑maintenance methodologies.
  • Axpo (Switzerland) was recognised for introducing a new phased‑array ultrasonic testing procedure that lowers inspection time and enhances nuclear‑component reliability.
  • Vattenfall (Sweden) was celebrated for leading the first qualified AI/ML‑based ultrasonic inspection at Ringhals Unit 3, marking a breakthrough in digital inspection capability.
  • National Grid (United Kingdom) earned awards for improving EV‑charging product vetting and measurement‑data quality, supporting more efficient electrification and system‑planning processes.

Together, these achievements underscore Europe’s pivotal role in accelerating safe, reliable, and innovative energy solutions.
