int:net Project Final Review: EPRI Europe’s Key Role in Advancing Interoperability
On December 2nd, the final review of the int:net project has taken place in Brussels, marking the culmination of three years of collaborative work to accelerate interoperability in the energy sector. The int:net project, funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe program, has brought together leading organizations to develop frameworks and tools that enable seamless integration of systems and services across the energy value chain.
EPRI Europe’s Contribution
EPRI Europe has played a central role in the success of int:net, leading Work Package 2, which focused on defining interoperability requirements and assessment methodologies. A major outcome of this effort is the development of the Interoperability Maturity Model, named EMINENT (Evaluating the Maturity of INteroperability in the ENergy Transition).
During the review meeting, Gianluca Lipari represented EPRI Europe, presenting the project’s results and highlighting EPRI’s leadership in shaping interoperability strategies that will benefit utilities and stakeholders worldwide.
What is EMINENT?
EMINENT is a structured framework that allows organizations to assess and improve their interoperability capabilities across technical, organizational, and informational dimensions. By providing clear benchmarks and guidance, EMINENT helps utilities and technology providers identify gaps, prioritize actions, and track progress toward higher levels of interoperability.
Benefits for EPRI and Its Members
The adoption of EMINENT offers significant advantages:
- Global Applicability: While developed in a European context, EMINENT is designed to be relevant for EPRI members worldwide.
- Strategic Planning: Utilities can use the model to align interoperability improvements with digitalization and grid modernization goals.
