EPRI, a global non-profit energy research and development organization, today announced the international expansion of its DCFlex initiative, starting with participants in Europe.
Introduced last year in the United States, DCFlex explores how data centers can support the electric grid, enable better asset utilization, and improve interconnection and efficiency. The collaborative effort—with Google, Meta, NVIDIA, and various utilities as founding members—now includes France-based RTE and Schneider Electric, Amsterdam-based ING, and PPC Group, based in Athens, Greece.

A four-year project involving EPRI Europe has developed new design simulation models for offshore wind turbines, finding that using less material in turbine construction can reduce the cost per unit of produced energy by up to 9%. That could boost the competitiveness of offshore wind, helping the European Union meet its goal of installing 450 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2050.
Dublin, Ireland (November 28, 2024)
A flexible control system is vital for grid operators across Europe to keep the grid stable while managing different energy generation sources. This is increasingly important as the European energy sector seeks to meet net-zero commitments.
Dublin, Ireland (November 7, 2024)
As the digital age transforms the energy landscape, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and critical energy infrastructure could boost efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
Brussels, Belgium (October 1, 2024)
The AGISTIN consortium convened on the 26th and 27th of September at Fraunhofer’s office in Brussels for the first periodic review, marking a major milestone in the project’s journey towards developing advanced grid interfaces for energy storage integration. The review covered the achievements and progress made in the first 18 months.
